This temporary (12-month) position , reporting to the Manager, SAP Solution Planning and Delivery, you may be assigned to work with a project manager and / or lead project teams, as well as City divisional business teams implementing HCM solutions integrating the SuccessFactors cloud and on-premise solutions.

Responsibilities :

Your primary responsibilities as an SAP HCM ECC ABAP Senior Developer will be varied. More specifically, you will :

  • Provide leadership in the area of SAP HCM Solutions for project and operational assignments
  • Manage the day-to-day SAP HCM solutions in a 7x24 production environment
  • Lead the day-to-day work output of staff and resources, including scheduling, assigning and reviewing work tasks to ensure a continuing, consistent service by sustaining complex, critical enterprise business applications, architectures and information
  • Maintain SAP HCM Solutions across multiple system landscapes
  • Lead the establishment of corporate SAP HCM policies and procedures, and coordinate with the business and technical users to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
  • Lead business application design, configuration, development and unit testing to ensure application designs meets business needs and is compliant to SAP SDLC best practices
  • Lead in identifying and evaluating project requirements, analyze and recommend feasible options, design, develop and / or acquire, test, and implement applications, and sustain SAP solutions to meet business requirements and divisional needs
  • Recommend, implement and practice on development / configuration, privacy and quality assurance requirements consistent with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), legislation and corporate standards regarding storage retention and processing of confidential corporate and application data and information outputs
  • Lead multidisciplinary business and technical teams from across the Corporation to formulate and execute project schedules and tasks according to established project management principles and methodologies (i.e., SAP Activate)
  • Lead appropriate system staff through the development life cycle to produce scalable, sustainable and standards-compliant departmental and corporate solutions, in conformance with the current enterprise architecture and infrastructure, at both business and information technology levels
  • Participate in effective recommendations with respect to project work assignments, and provide input into performance appraisals and disciplinary action
  • Participate in sustaining and improving corporate infrastructures, methodologies, tools, techniques and standards, and ensure their conformance and adherence in daily practice among business and technical teams
  • Develop and / or apply complex business and application models, information structures, custom application specifications, database schemas, network and application interfaces as governed by architectural frameworks, technology standards, information policies and legislative requirements
  • Lead junior / intermediate SAP HCM teams through coaching, mentoring and conducting regular application design and code reviews
  • Lead various stages of projects, manage project team members and resources, and report progress to project managers, stakeholders and team members, ensuring successful delivery of solutions through proper coordination, issue management, change management, resource management, budget control, quality assurance, migration planning, contingency measures and risk mitigation
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner to stakeholders, clients, project managers, supervisors and team members any business and technical decisions and actions that may impact solution delivery, staff performance, business processes, management workflow and technical support of public services
  • Participate in, and contribute to, as required, corporate and cross-departmental / divisional initiatives to design, construct and implement business and technical solutions, such as business intelligence or other initiatives, as required
  • Analyze, and recommend changes to, current business practices, business and information processes, data flows, performance measures, information delivery and knowledge utilization toward a more efficiently managed and coherently integrated information environment for all departments in the City
  • Assist in preparing RFIs, RFPs, RFQs and other formal project documents (SOWs, MOUs, business cases, project charters, SLAs), participate in evaluating, selecting and recommending technical solutions and professional services, and assist in managing vendors and contractors in the overall solution delivery process
  • Lead the SAP HCM solutions configuration and development teams in adhering to defect management processes, using HP QC and Change Management, Service Request Management, Incident Management in Solution Manager
  • Communicate effectively (e.g., lead / facilitate meetings, prepare and deliver presentations and / or reports) with various audiences such as business managers, project team members, other levels of government, City and / or external parties
  • Key Qualifications :

    Your application for the role of Senior Systems Integrator (SAP HCM ECC ABAP Senior Developer) should describe your qualifications as they relate to :

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and / or several years of experience working on large-scale information technology projects, or the approved equivalent combination of education and / or experience.
  • Extensive experience as an SAP HCM ECC Developer (ABAP)
  • Extensive experience developing programs extracting SAP HCM data to non-SAP sources
  • Considerable experience supervising a team (internal or external resources) with strong interpersonal skills to work independently and collaboratively with others in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Experience in leading projects or teams, including demonstrated skills in using project management tools (ASAP or Activate methodology preferred), applying methods and standards, estimating and tracking time and efforts, allocating and deploying resources, with a proven track record in successfully completing projects according to an established methodology.
  • Ability to analyze operational SAP HCM solution issues in order to recommend immediate resolutions and the most effective approach to their implementation factoring in project and sustainment costs.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and a strong customer service orientation to establish and maintain effective consulting relationships with clients.
  • Considerable experience with effective teamwork, facilitation, communications, conflict resolution, problem solving, crisis management and team leadership in projects, assignments and service engagements.
  • Ability to prepare, organize and present business cases, proposals, solutions and budgets, or similar formal documents and statements, to various audiences, including stakeholders, clients and the public.
