Purpose of Role

The Specialist, Discovery Services assists in the provision of e-discovery support to the firm’s litigation lawyers, law clerks / paralegals and assistants, and assists other members of the Discovery Services team in managing case databases in our e-discovery applications.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

As a member of the Discovery Services team, the Discovery Services Specialist assists the Discovery Services team with the preparation and support of e-

discovery matters using a variety of litigation software.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role are :

  • Assist the members of the Discovery Services team in managing the e-discovery requirements of the Toronto office and other offices nationally as needed;
  • Preparation and processing of paper and electronic documents for importing into Relativity, and other programs;
  • Assist in importing data and images received from other parties into Relativity;
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure an accurate product;
  • Assist in providing user support for e-discovery, imaging & document database related issues in accordance with firm-wide best practices;
  • Assist in liaising with external vendors to ensure accurate and timely completion of outsourced projects.
  • Demonstrate :

  • Knowledge of e-discovery software, preferably Relativity;
  • Interest in legal technology generally and e-discovery specifically;
  • Patience under pressure and ability to handle routine work independently;
  • Commitment to developing the skills and profile of the Discovery Services team;
  • Enthusiasm for growing and evolving skills along with the evolution of legal technology and best practices in e-discovery;
  • Availability to work overtime on evenings and at weekends, when necessary.
  • Key Competencies

  • 2+ years of data input / data management experience preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Strong computer skills and a good understanding of the practical and technical requirements of electronic discovery.
  • Knowledge of Relativity, Summation and other litigation document management applications would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Committed team player.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
