Background :

The Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation, to be housed in the soon-to-be constructed 60,000-square-foot Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre, provide leading-

edge care and serve as a recruitment epicenter for first-in-the-world clinical trials of focused ultrasound and deep brain stimulation, as well as other highly sophisticated neuromodulation technologies.

Position Qualifications : A Full-Time Research Coordinator position is available at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI).

The candidate is required to possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Psychology or a related field. The preferred candidate, a psychometrist, is expected to have previous experience administering neuropsychological tests, structured diagnostic interviews, and clinical rating scales.

Previous experience coordinating clinical trials is an asset. Experience with psychiatric and / or neurodegenerative disease populations is an asset.

This individual will also have demonstrated ability to manage and analyze large databases and will have literature review and synthesis skills.

The candidate will be detail oriented, well organized, with the ability to meet deadlines and to work independently .

Position Obligations : The successful candidate will administer and score a large battery of standardized tests that assess cognitive, behavioural, and emotional functioning in patients with refractory psychiatric illness and / or neurodegenerative disease and other conditions that are undergoing neuromodulation treatment, under the supervision of a clinical neuropsychologist.

Prior training should have emphasis on accuracy, validity, and standardization in administration, as well as, accurately scoring assessments with appropriate norms.

The Research Coordinator (psychometrist) position will involve assisting Research Managers and other research staff on a number of clinical research projects.

This will involve coordinating the recruitment and screening of human subjects into multiple research protocols and ensuring compliance for all project activities.

Environment : The candidate will join the vibrant team of research faculty and clinician scientists in the Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation who are conducting cutting-

edge research within a collaborative atmosphere. The Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation will be the first in the world to offer patients the full spectrum of state-

of-the art neuromodulation treatments. Neuromodulation uses advanced, image-guided technologies such as focused ultrasound to interact directly with malfunctioning brain circuits.

In addition, the individual is expected to :

Work within the larger context of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) and observe Hospital and department rules and regulations, policies, procedures, practices, safety procedures and current legislation, in particular the Human Rights Code regarding discrimination and harassment.

Ensure the confidentiality of patient, employee, graduate student and Hospital information at all times.

Work cooperatively and constructively with the other members of SHSC staff.

Perform the above functions in a manner, which reflects the Hospital philosophy and mission of service, while promoting and maintaining good public relations with patients, visitors and Hospital staff.
