Reporting to the manager, projects, you will execute multiple concurrent small expense and capital projects on time and on budget as part of the integrated team supporting front end concept design and leading the execution component.
Define and execute projects using a stage-gate project management model including the deliverables; set and manage costs and schedule, and partners while adhering to our journey to zero safety mindset
Lead multi-disciplinary small expense and capital projects from inception through commissioning and handover to operations, while finding opportunities to reduce risk and costs to improve asset reliability, safety and environmental performance
Coordinate all technical design documents and drawings with internal and external technical support
Obtain provincial permits for construction projects
Manage, track and report on project status including project estimating, scheduling, and risk management
Perform technical reviews and evaluations of engineered drawings, reports and proposals, and equipment design and specification
Manage project procurement of Suncor-supplied goods and services including material take-offs, SAP requisitions and goods receipt, while working with supply chain management (SCM) and support groups
Co-ordinate and liaise with internal groups including operations, maintenance, technical and SCM; coordinate project execution with general contractors and diverse groups
Perform field reviews and site meetings during construction
Leading by non-authoritative leadership while providing mentorship to project engineers
Experience and Education :
Five or more years of experience in operations or maintenance within SAGD / in-situ
Five or more years of experience in execution and leading of projects within SAGD / in-situ
Technical diploma, journeyman trade certificate or engineering degree in a relevant field
Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
Skills and Knowledge :
Project engineering competency and strong technical capability
Deep understanding of operations within SAGD / in-situ
Proven project management on construction projects and a creative problem-solver
Excellent computer skills (MS-Office)
Highly motivated, dynamic, self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills and non-authoritative leadership ability
This position is based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre
Regular travel to site is required
