The Opportunity : Technology Enthusiast / Writer SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development)
PwC’s SR&ED Team in the Waterloo office consists of a dedicated group of professionals with backgrounds in the fields of science, technology, engineering, tax and finance.
As a team, our highly skilled professionals offer their expertise to our clients to help them maximize the tax benefits of their R&D projects through the Canadian SR&ED Tax Incentive Program, US R&E program and other engineering based tax credits.
Rapid growth of our business in this region presents an opportunity for a Technology Enthusiast / Writer specialist to become part of our Waterloo practice.
You love participating in any capacity in hack-a-thons and relish the challenge of solving technical puzzles. Putting together various tech pieces to complete the picture and solve a problem.
You are the first to discover and learn about new technologies and assess how people can use them in everyday applications
As part of your local or other tech communities, you enjoy networking on a social and professional basis to learn and share insights into the latest technology
As an advocate for research and development, you are excited by science, technology, and innovation and are willing to undertake independent research and embrace continuous learning
You are inquisitive about technology and adept at eliciting relevant information from various sources including online sources, technical documents, and R&D staff.
Strong technical writing skills, able to clearly express facts and establish positions concisely and with strong attention to grammar
Adept at sourcing technical information as required for SR&ED claims from the appropriate individuals and in turn will be able to establish and foster strong working relationships with them.
You will need have a desire to develop your SR&ED and R&E knowledge and apply this within your assignments.
You enjoy using your analytical and writing skills to apply the credit rules to client opportunities, and can organize client information using Microsoft Office-
based tools as well as Google technologies.
Effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments and clients.
Able to learn quickly, be proactive in completing your assigned tasks, and be detail oriented when completing your work.
Communicate progress on assignments to clients and team members, identifying solutions to potential obstacles and adept at managing client expectations.
You work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team as you will be teamed up with SR&ED financial specialists and other professionals.
You will be exposed to opportunities to take part in networking events and establish connections within the Waterloo Tech Community.
Strong passion for all things Technology! You shall have a strong interest in Information Technology from Infrastructure to programming languages to machine learning to cloud.
Anything and everything that comes under the technology spectrum will be if interest to you.
Impeccable writing skills; you will frequently be submitting documentation to the Federal Government, as such, you’re writing ability is key to being successful in this role.
We are seeking someone that has touched all area of technology. Ideally, you will have hands-on experience with computer programming languages, web technologies, cloud computing, and modern software development methodologies.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering degree and / or have other related technical credentials / experience.
SR&ED experience in industry or professional services environment is would be an asset, but someone with a strong software background who is willing to learn SR&ED will be considered.
Excellent spoken and written communication skills, and takes pride in their attention to detail
Experience with ERP, relationship databases, and other enterprise systems / applications would be considered an asset.
Experience in cyber security, firmware development, networking, and telecommunications would be considered an asset.
Strong client-service orientation, team and project management skills, with a focus on achieving high quality, deliverables
