The Day & Ross Transportation Group is currently seeking a full-time Central Dispatch Planner for our Freight division in Hartland, NB.

Please note : This position is tentatively scheduled for shift work including nights and weekends.

Responsible for planning the safe, on-time, and efficient movement of loads and trucks in a defined geographical area while minimizing empty miles and wait times.

To be successful in this role, you will exceptionally complete the following (not an exhaustive list of responsibilities) :

  • Identify required loads in advance and organize for greatest efficiency
  • Assign and line up loads and deliveries based on Broker information
  • Monitor scheduled runs to ensure they are on-time; advise Brokers, Customer Service, and / or Planner in next region of any changes
  • Complete Broker and Driver pay sheets
  • Oversee daily activities of Drivers, identify issues, e.g.; load refusals, late deliveries, poor customer service and escalate issues to Brokers and Fleet Services as required
  • Other duties related to Linehaul Operations as required
  • To be qualified for this role, please ensure your resume clearly displays some or all of the following :

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in logistics or business administration; An acceptable combination of education and training may also be considered
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in transportation or operations
  • Must be proficient in MS Outlook, Excel & Word; web based programs, AS400 an asset; must possess the aptitude for learning new programs
  • Strong customer service focus, relationship building skills and conflict resolution skills
  • Advanced communication skills including the ability to relay information (verbal and written) between several parties and deliver a positive customer experience
  • Exceptional judgment and decision making
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills, the ability to evaluate current situation, respond quickly to changing requirements, execute and escalate accordingly
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced , deadline-driven setting
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment; appropriate sense of urgency
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others to meet customer expectations.
  • The working environment can include long periods of sitting at a desk, working with a computer, and on the phone.
