The Global Vice President of Sales is directly responsible for the Sales vision and strategy, ensuring strong sales fundamentals are established across the global organization.
The Global VP of Sales is accountable for the company's revenue and growth - they own the sales numbers. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Global VP of Sales works alongside General Managers in ensuring their respective teams are utilizing all necessary resources to deliver profitable corporate growth.
Key objectives, functions and duties :
Build a world class sales culture with a defined set of sales fundamentals implemented consistently across the global organization.
Develop 1- and 3-year detailed sales plans and strategies for achieving the company's sales goals including direct sales and coordinating closely with Key Account Management on 3rd party representative channel strategies.
Establish budgets for the General Managers to invest in their sales and channel management teams to generate a high ROI, with semi-annual monitoring.
Regular meetings with General Managers and sales leaders to review :
Lead generation / sales funnel & forecasting updates;
Accountability on established metrics;
Coaching on Sales and Channel Manager disciplines.
Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting to and be an active member of the monthly Sales & Operations Planning meeting.
Provide transparency, accountability and celebrate success through regular communication of sales force performance metrics in the monthly sales bulletin
Semi-annual face-to-face team meeting with Sales Management team.
Actively participate in recruitment and development of front-line and sales leadership. Key stakeholder in the on-going development and refinement of the sales training program.
Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets.
Lead the development and enhancement of CRM and reporting systems to support the success of the sales function.
Monitor customer, market and competitor activity to build appropriate sales strategy. Ensure competitive intel is shared across the leadership team.
Foster collaboration and connectivity between sales, marketing and operations. Monthly face-to-face meeting with VP of Marketing and VP of Operations
Participate annually in Strategic Sales calls with top tier customers.
Travel as required internationally.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required or other relevant degree preferred.
Minimum 15 years of agricultural industry experience.
Proven record of progressively more responsible sales roles.
Record of success as a visionary leader who develops innovative, market-changing data driven products for a global marketplace.
Experience dealing with emerging technologies related to agricultural industries preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop a strategic vision, communicate it to staff and motivate the team to deliver on it.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills along with excellent analytical, writing, editing, and presentation skills.
Well-organized, self-directed team-player who is results-oriented.
