Reporting to the Production Planning Manager, the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Buyer is responsible for the tactical procurement of goods and / or services required to maintain and support NCA’s manufacturing / operations.
This individual will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and / or services at the most favourable price for the company with minimal or no interruption to production, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers.
Principal Accountabilities : (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.

Negotiate, procure and place orders for raw materials, plant equipment parts and supplies for the organization in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Identify and execute negotiation & cost savings initiatives by managing vendor relationship.
Identify and execute value analysis and vendor transfer savings opportunities as a cross-functional effort to deliver cost reduction targets and optimize other performance measures such as on-
time delivery & lead time of purchased goods and services, without jeopardizing quality, flexibility and supply continuity.
Perform clerical / administrative duties such as data entry, tracking cost savings initiatives and providing monthly status reports vs.
objective targets, and reviewing and ensuring correctness of pricelist and upload to ERP system.
Coordinate all purchases with warehouse to ensure rapid delivery and reception of goods and / or services.
Arrange for payments to vendors for products or services procured.
Organize, coordinate, and periodically conduct physical inspections of inventory levels.
Handle invoices from vendors, verifying that the information on invoices is for agreed-upon prices, products, shipment date, and shipping method.
Work closely with Accounts Payable to correct invoice discrepancies and ensure vendor payments in timely manner.
Remain abreast of pricing trends, changes, restrictions, or any other variables that could affect purchasing strategies.
Advise scheduling and or production of lead time required to obtain materials, equipment and / or supplies.
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies using diplomacy and tact with vendors.
Make recommendations and suggest options regarding expected or unexpected material shortages.
Negotiate return of items to vendors and coordinate subsequent credits, refunds, or replacements.
Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on production.
Adhere to and enforce compliance with purchasing policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills : (The following minimum requirements are normal guidelines and should not constrain the advancement of Post-
Secondary education in materials management, business, or administration.)
Minimum two, preferred four years of experience buying MRO goods and / or services
Previous experience in manufacturing processes and building materials industry is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of standard purchasing and contracting techniques and procedures.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Navision Dynamics experience is an asset
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
