APPLICATION INFORMATION

Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language of their choice. Applicants will be asked to indicate in their on-

    Duties

    Ascertain the facts on such issues as reasons for loss of employment and availability for work. Determine the eligibility of persons applying for Employment Insurance, Canada Pension, Old Age Security Benefits and other ESDC Programs and Services.

    Investigate claimants when there appears to be fraud or abuse. Monitors the payments of benefits throughout the duration of a claim.

    Work environment

    These Officer level positions provide information, advice and guidance, promote, adjudicate, calculate and ensure the integrity in the delivery of Programs.

    To excel in this position you must be; highly motivated a quick learner, quality oriented, client focused and able to thrive in a fast paced, high volume environment.

    Intent of the process

    It is the intent to establish multiple pools on an ongoing basis English Essential and Bilingual Imperative CBC / CBC for current and / or future vacancies.

    Candidates are asked to identify which language they are interested in being assessed for on their application. Bilingual candidates will be asked to undergo the PSC Second Language Evaluation (SLE) exam or provide valid SLE results with their application.

    PSEE - Test of Reasoning UIT

    Applicants must complete the Public Service Entrance Exam : Test of Reasoning Unsupervised Internet Test (UIT) as part of the screening for this selection process.

    This test assesses reasoning and problem solving ability. You will have 90 minutes to complete the test. You must complete the test before you submit your application for this position.

    You will be required to show how you demonstrate the essential and asset qualifications (i.e. Education, Experience) for the initial screening through your resume and in answering online screening questions.

    It is NOT sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities.

    Rather you must clearly demonstrate HOW, WHEN, and WHERE the qualification was met through substantiation by examples. Information on your described skills, experience, etc.

    provided in the screening questions should be supported by your resume. Failure to provide the above information in the format required may result in your application being rejected from the process.

    PLEASE NOTE : Alternative testing dates will be limited and only offered for extenuating circumstances : Illness (a medical certificate will be required) or Emergency Circumstances (verifiable).

    PROOF OF EDUCATION

    Candidates will be required to submit their proof of education documents at the time of assessment.

    If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your credentials and / or diploma assessed against Canadian education standards.

    The public service will accept any Foreign Educational Credentials as long as they are deemed comparable to Canadian standards, through a recognize credential assessment service.

    SCREENING OR SELECTION BASED ON ASSET QUALIFICATIONS, ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS (EMPLOYMENT EQUITY), OR OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Management may choose one or more Asset Qualifications at the screening stage.

    SELECTION

    A pass mark will be established for each essential qualification. Candidates must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to the position.

    A candidate may be appointed to the position even though he / she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, organizational requirements, or operational needs.

    However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be used as a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

    Random selection and / or top-down selection may be used at any time during the process to identify which applicants will be further assessed.

    TRAVEL RELATED TO THE SELECTION OR APPOINTMENT PROCESS

    Please note that candidates (including employees of the Public Service ) will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and that travel costs will not be reimbursed.

    Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.
