Reporting to the Primary Health Care Manager, under the leadership of the Clinical Manager of Mental Health and Addictions and the supervision of a Senior Mental Health Therapist, the Mental Health Therapist is responsible to provide a wide range of mental health services to a broad population of clients.
They are responsible for the planning, development, organization and delivery of counselling services of children, youth, adults and their families with the goal of restoring mental health and / or supporting clients to learn skills to manage their illness.
Bachelor of Social Work or Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Master's Degree in Psychology. Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers or the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan or the Saskatchewan College of Psychology.
Experience in a mental health setting working with clients presenting with acute and / or chronic mental health concerns is desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Significant experience in and knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques appropriate for specific populations, based on best practice literature.
Sound clinical judgment skills. Ability to plan, develop and conduct a variety of treatment and psycho educational groups.
Public speaking and relations skills with the ability to provide public / educational presentations. Ability to effectively handle a large caseload, be a self starter and to work harmoniously in an interdisciplinary environment.
Awareness of and ability to cope with a wide variety of clinical, ethical and legal issues related to mental health services.
Knowledge of mental health assessment systems and ability to develop effective, evidence based treatment plans. Good oral and written communications skills.
Professional maturity and leadership ability. Valid driver's license and ability travel and work flexible hours. Computer literacy and administration skills.
