Gilead Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Research Associate with expertise in immunology to join our research efforts to identify new therapeutics for functional cure of chronic hepatitis B (HBV) infection.
Essential Duties and Job Functions :
The selected candidate will play an essential role in optimizing and carrying out various in vitro virologic and immunologic assays focused on the discovery and preclinical evaluation of immune-
based therapeutics to treat chronic HBV infection.
Analysis will include isolation of primary immune cells, primary cell assays, nucleic acid analyses, qPCR, and ELISA using samples from pre-
clinical in vitro and in vivo studies.
Extensive experience with flow cytometry, including design and execution of multi-color panels and antibody validation is highly desirable.
Additional responsibilities include performing various diagnostic assays and cell culture HBV infection assays.
Candidate will work closely with senior personnel as well as independently, and will be required to present results, interpret data, and formulate conclusions
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
A strong background in immunology is essential. Experience in adaptive immunity, immunomodulation and knowledge of viral or tumor immunology is preferred.
Excellent technical skills applicable to immunology research including being well-versed in multi-color flow cytometry and other molecular biology assays.
Ability to troubleshoot and optimize assays as needed; identifying and applying novel techniques or protocols.
Strong motivation, independence, and ability to work in a high-pace multidisciplinary environment with minimal supervision.
Educational background :
Preferred candidates will have Bachelor’s degree in Immunology, Virology or a related life science discipline with 5+ years, or a Master’s degree in a related scientific discipline with 4+ years working experience in academics or biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry.
