Naval Combat Information Operators are responsible for the operation of all shipboard surveillance radars and associated equipment of the shipboard intelligence, surveillance and recognizance systems.

As members of the ship's Combat Information Organization, Naval Combat Information Operators assist and advise the ship's leadership in navigation, anti-

air warfare, anti-surface warfare and anti-submarine warfare. Their primary duties are to :

  • Configure and operate :
  • o Command and control system o Ships' radars o Intelligence, surveillance and recognizance systems o Multi-tactical data links o Global command and control system -

    maritime o Information processing systems o Ship borne integrated communication equipment and related sub-systems - Analyse equipment and system performance on all combat information equipment -

    Perform basic on-line fault diagnostic procedures - Collect, correlate, record, analyse, display, and disseminate all tactical information -

    Maintain classified logs and publications At sea, Naval Combat Information Operators work mostly within the ship's Operations Room with some of the most modern and sophisticated equipment at sea today.

    Onboard ship, Naval Combat Information Operators experience the unique adventures and challenges that come with work at sea.

    They serve on ships based in Halifax, Nova Scotia or in Esquimalt, British-Columbia. Generally, the number of hours of work per week is 40 hours.

    However, military members can be called to work on atypical schedules according to the operational needs. This job also exists on a part-

  • To have completed at least 24 secondary school units (Secondary 4 and / or 5); OR Have completed a diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP);
  • OR Have obtained a certificate of equivalence at the secondary level (AENS-TENS); OR Have acquired General Educational Development (GED). Salary :

    35 800$ to 98 300$ per year*

  • The minimum wage mentioned above is the first year of service. The military member will earn a base salary of approximately $ 60,200 after approximately four years of service.
  • The salary increases according to the rank and experience of the member according to the rates of pay applicable on April 1st, 2017.
