What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will act as the lead hand within the Derivative Operations team providing expertise and guidance on operational processes and exception management while ensuring data is processed accurately within stated deadlines.

This role is also accountable for ensuring that audit and control procedures are in place to mitigate operational processing risks.

The role coordinates projects and assists with various processing efficiency mandates. Project management responsibilities will include the coordination of transitions and mergers.

What will you do?

  • Support the day to day derivative administration of a variety of Derivatives and Alternative investment products including Forwards, Futures, Options, Swaps and Term Loans
  • Lead hand within the Derivative Operations team providing expertise and guidance on operational processes and exception issues to ensure data is processed accurately within stated deadlines
  • Assess the skill level of each team member and provides technical processing query resolution as necessary. This could include one on one coaching and group technical sessions as appropriate
  • Provides input and feedback to the performance management process based on knowledge of each team members on-the-job performance
  • Recommend, implement and monitor adherence to internal processing controls and guidelines
  • Ensure compliance to Client’s Trust Agreements and relevant disclosure documents as it relates to service delivery and adherence to industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform regular audits of the quality of the processing team output
  • Project Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Co-ordinate, review and provide recommendation for solutions to system or client queries
  • Identify and recommend system or business improvements to enhance departmental efficiencies as it relates to processing
  • Flexibility to meet scheduled shift work is required in this role.

    As well, there may be some required overtime to meet the demands of the business.

    What do you need to succeed?


  • Minimum 2+ years’ derivatives experience including experience supervising employees and dealing with yearend processes, audit, transitions and mergers
  • Strong understanding of how to calculate MTM for all open positions and posting to respective reporting platforms
  • Understanding the performance of a portfolio and ability to decompose the P&L
  • Conceptually understand the process for pricing Derivative holdings using Bloomberg and Reuters
  • Investment accounting experience
  • Nice-to-have

  • Securities experience & familiarity with accounting & derivatives platforms
  • Past people management skills
  • Enrolment in CGA / CMA / CFA or other recognized accredited program
  • Successful completion of the CSC and working knowledge of GAAP
