The Day & Ross Transportation Group is currently seeking a full-time Operations Manager for our Supply Chain Trade Network Solutions division in Hartland, NB.

As a key member of the Management Team, the Operations Manager is accountable to oversee, direct, manage and ensure results are in line with the strategic direction of the Supply Chain Trade Network Solutions team.
This role will drive major efficiency improvements and champion the strategy for maintaining and adding new growth for the assigned area.
Please note : This position is tentatively scheduled for Monday to Friday, day time hours but flexibility is required outside of these hours.
To be successful in this role, you will exceptionally complete the following (not an exhaustive list of responsibilities) :
Ensure operations capabilities meet or exceed all customer and corporate requirements for unit cost, service quality and responsiveness as the company grows
Maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial transportation requirements
Work closely with next level up Manager on operational plans, goals, and contribute to future innovations
Report, document, and identify root causes for all incidents such as personal injuries, transportation collisions, spills, etc.
and promptly develop and implement corrective / preventative measures
Support the increasing profitability of our business
Lead, develop, direct, implement and oversee a strategy and can react to opportunities of growth
Develop, implement and track on a monthly basis an operational dashboard for visual understanding of performance against plan elements
Provide daily guidance to staff to ensure alignment with operational and customer expectations
Develop a culture of safety, professionalism and service excellence in all areas of operations
Provide mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees; establish individual objectives, conduct performance appraisal reviews, recommend salary action, and implement succession planning;
oversee and manage professional development to support leadership development program
Motivate staff and develop effective peers, managers and clients
Establish and implement a framework for the ongoing measurement of performance in all areas of accountability as well as the regular evaluation of performance against key performance criteria
Create and maintain a climate of leadership growth in support of the company's core values and philosophy

To be qualified for this role, please ensure your resume clearly displays some or all of the following :
Minimum of secondary education, with preference of post-secondary education (general stream), or a combination of education and experience.
Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred, various roles within transportation would be beneficial
Communication skills - advanced
Computer skills accuracy, MS products, AS400, web based programs
Demonstrated customer relationship skills
Strong conflict resolution skills
Able to work to deadlines in high transactional environment, must have a strong sense of urgency
Ability to champion business needs in a collaborative manner to colleagues
Must be a hands on operator, trainer, coach and mentor
Must be a self-starter
English, other languages an asset
Please note : This position does not normally require travel but may encompass up to 15%.
The working environment can include extended period sitting in a work station working on a computer and on a phone.
