Description & Details

  • Must be able to commit to one group PAR session for a minimum of 12 weeks on either :
  • Thursday 5 : 00 p.m. 8 : 30 p.m. OR Saturday 9 : 00 a.m. 1 : 30 p.m.

  • Must be able to commit to case management for 5-6 hours a week (Flexible when hours can be completed.)
  • Volunteering Objective :

    The Partner Intervention Program is a domestic violence court initiative that delivers a specialized mandated community based group intervention for women funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General.

    This program provides individual support and group counselling to women who have been charged within domestic violence situations and are mandated to attend counselling psycho-

    educational group for issues related to abuse and emotions management.

    Responsibilities :

  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Understanding of domestic violence from a feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression perspective.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, specifically pertaining to women.
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Knowledgeable about working with at-risk populations
  • Expectation / Criteria :

  • Help prepare for group by assisting with preparing materials and group set up
  • Learn how to complete client assessments
  • Enter individual notes after each group into database.
  • Maintain client filing systems and correspondence in print and electronically.
  • Provide input, advice and feedback on the group and other program activities
  • Work collaboratively with PAR team on topics modules for group.
  • Additional Skills / Interests An Ideal Candidate Would Poses :

  • Must have some knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and issues impacting individuals primarily women in conflict with the law
  • Able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet
  • Able to adhere to program policy and procedures while maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Experience in the field of social services as asset
