The main responsibilities include :

  • Work in accordance with ABB policies and procedures, and using ABB tools
  • Manage and deliver a variety of engineering projects at any given time.
  • Be accountable for the management of the project through the entire project lifecycle (from handover from sales, through design and validation, to site delivery and until the end of the warranty period)
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, within budget, on time and with high quality
  • Serve as a primary interface on all contractual items for projects for both customers and team members
  • Build relationships with, and influence, customer at all levels to ensure customer satisfaction and responsiveness
  • Create detailed project schedules, monitor and drive progress, effectively communicate schedule to team and customers
  • Identify, qualify, quantify, and manage project risks
  • Manage change requests and pursue project opportunities to grow the scope. Identify new opportunities and communicate with Sales.
  • Monitor and control project progress, including, invoicing, cash flow, revenue recognition, and gross margin improvement
  • Manage / lead project teams to ensure project success and positive team environment
  • Conduct meetings efficiently, track open issues, record and communicate actions and decisions
  • Ensure contract completion to meet or exceed the expected profitability
  • Co-ordinate with Supply Chain Management and successfully procure required services, materials and equipment for the project from internal and external suppliers
  • Act as key contact for all project issues and maintain strong relationship with internal and external stakeholders
  • Capture, analyze and share lessons learned throughout the project
  • Effectively resolve disputes over contract terms, change orders, back charges, delays, warranties etc.
  • Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 10+ years of successful experience in Project Management, involving projects with instrumentation & control and electrical systems, ideally in Utilities, Power Generation or Water market segments in Canada
  • ABB Senior Project Management designation, PMI certified
  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Project
  • Experience with control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC, HMI) software and control system hardware.
  • Knowledge of electrical products and instrumentation, e.g. excitation, VFD drives, MV / LV switchgear, protection relays, motor control centers, transformers, power distribution, flame scanners and boiler combustion gas analyzers.
  • Experience in delivering projects to nuclear and hydroelectric power generation customers in Canada is a big plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills written and oral. Proficient in English.
  • Ability to positively influence people, building trust and credibility
  • Good understanding of project finances and contracts
  • Experience with SAP
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Project related travel will be required depending on project assignments
