Position Description

Kinder Morgan one of the largest pipeline and terminals companies in North America is currently in the biggest capital program phase in the company’s history.

The Canadian division of the Terminal’s business unit, Kinder Morgan Canada Terminals (KMCT) is part of this significant growth phase, focusing on liquids terminal and rail infrastructure projects in Canada and the northern tier U.

S. KMCT is excited to announce an expansion project called Base Line Terminal. The project is a crude oil storage terminal in Edmonton, Alberta with commissioning expected to begin in the third quarter of 2017.

The Base Line Terminal will provide Kinder Morgan unparalleled connectivity to sources of crude oil in the Edmonton area.

The Construction Representatives / Coordinators are to oversee construction activities pertaining to disciplines related activities (civil, structural, tanks, mechanical and piping, electrical and instrumentation) on the Base Line project.

The Construction Representative reports to the Construction Manager, and is responsible for fabrication and construction of the certain project specific areas.

The responsibilities of the Construction Representatives / Coordinators will include, but are not limited to :

  • Executes construction activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, area and discipline wise construction budget, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards.
  • Controls project schedule and cost through efficient coordination with assigned contractors by efficient use of all construction resources including manpower, materials, tools and equipment.
  • Provides input for the development of project integrated schedules as project progresses while coordinating with the construction contractors.
  • Ensures that daily and weekly short-range planning is maintained by contractors.
  • Reviews design scope and approach with regard to constructability and submit recommendations for changes to enhance productivity.
  • Evaluate manpower levels provided by the construction contractors to attain schedule milestones and monitors manpower levels to ensure conformance with the construction plan.
  • Monitors area and discipline-wise contractor’s productivity in relation with cost / schedule and implements appropriate action to maintain maximum productivity and cost / schedule effectiveness.
  • In consultation with Construction Manager, controls change / scope creep, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly documented and change orders are approved prior to the performance of work.
  • Assists the Construction Managers in the overall administration of labor relations policies.
  • Assists Construction Manager to comply with the contractual commitments of contractors, including cost, quality, and schedule and coordinates their field activities.
  • Plans and manages the project’s temporary facilities.
  • Ensure all contract compliance at site and work with construction contractors.
  • Proactively coordinate all materials delivery, handling and construction in collaboration with Construction Manager.
  • Implements the site safety and security procedures and project work rules.
  • Remains knowledgeable of KMCT safety policies and procedures and project work rules.
  • Remains knowledgeable of KMCT safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • In consultation with Quality Lead, maintains quality of all work in accordance with the KMCT standards as specified in the design documents.
  • Position Requirements

  • Requires 15+ years of construction field experience in any discipline and site planning experience in the oil & gas facilities with good understanding of tank terminal projects.
  • Effectively manage construction contracts.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Must be flexible and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
