Position : Assistant Cook, YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth
Responsibilities : The Assistant Cook works as part of the Food Services team. Their primary focus is on working directly with the delivery of food service to campers and staff at Camp Queen Elizabeth.
They provide help and support to the Food Service team and operations of camp through baking, food preparation, food storage, staff coaching, and maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the kitchen.
The Assistant Cook will work with the Food Service Manager to plan nutritious and high quality meals and to make sure all food is prepared and handled in a safe and healthy manner, the kitchen is a safe, clean, and sanitary workplace, and that Public Health guidelines are met.
This staff member will take on the responsibilities of the Food Service Manager during his / her absence; this may include food ordering, menu planning, inventory control, and supervising kitchen staff.
This person is supervised by the Food Service Manager.
The Assistant Cook should be comfortable working in an industrial kitchen and must be flexible and a positive role model to the staff team as a whole.
Other Job Details : This position is a seasonal contract from May 6 Sept 30, 2018. The successful candidate is required to live on site at YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth for the duration of the contract in rustic and shared accommodation.
Salary / Wage : $425-$565 per 6 day week, dependent on experience and qualifications
Qualifications & Experience : Required Qualifications : Standard First Aid, CPR C, Food Safety Training, Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Position Screening, experience working in food service and / or at camp or similar environment.
