Position Overview :
As a leader in the Property and Facilities team, we will ask our Director of Facility Management Operations to have the business agility to grow in a fast-
paced environment consistent with handling multiple demands and priorities. Our Director will be the Facility Management subject matter expert at Woodbine and will manage all aspects of the facilities service delivery system at the Woodbine Racetrack.
They will need to develop and implement innovative programs, processes, and procedures that reduce short and long-term operating costs and increase productivity.
The Director will need to be a natural leader rallying all the Property Services teams to achieve common corporate goals and come together as one.
Effective management of a supplier base to attain cost savings targets and support spending initiatives to maximize utilization of suppliers and preferred vendors / contractors
Manage all aspects of the facilities service delivery system
Develop and implement innovative programs, processes, and procedures that reduce short and long-term operating costs and increase productivity
Oversee appropriate monthly / quarterly / annual reporting
Manage the development and management of the capital and expense budgets
Direct the development and manage the detailed, zero-based annual operating budgets
Develop monthly / quarterly variance reporting on all operating budgets
Assist with the development and implement the annual management plan
Act as the main liaison with all stakeholders on infrastructure equipment and associated systems
Support the planning, scheduling, and direction of employees by providing guidance to the Property Development & Facility Managers and Supervisors in maintenance and housekeeping at Woodbine, Greenwood, and WEGZ facilities
Ensure adherence to all applicable governmental regulations
Lead by example to exhibit, encourage and motivate WEG’s Values and Beliefs
Qualifications : Knowledge
Expert knowledge of building infrastructure, plant equipment (HVAC, B.A.S., etc.) and operating systems.
Expert knowledge of environmental / green standards and regulations and sustainability options as they relate to legislation and Government funding programs.
Expert knowledge of applicable industry codes and other relevant legislation.
Advanced knowledge of cross-functional operations of the organization, as well as budgets and financial statements.
Advanced technical knowledge required to analyze and interpret technical data
Advanced interpersonal, communication, organization and management skills, combined with strong project management, team leadership, and mentoring / coaching skills.
Superior people management and client relations skills are a must
Big-picture thinker with the ability to strategize in support of corporate mandates and / or objectives.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, challenging and ever-changing work environment.
Ability to independently make sound decisions on critical issues while considering multiple variables and outcomes as it relates to the financial impact on major assets and infrastructure.
Ability to communicate project goals and objectives, as well as establish accountability for project / critical milestones.
Strong ability to collaborate and work with others to develop and implement goals, as well as maintain and influence internal relationships.
Education and Experience
8-10 years of management experience relating to facility equipment and systems, maintenance practices and procedures, and energy management technology and techniques within a large entertainment or commercial facility, or similar environment.
Experience managing people required. Experience in a senior role preferred.
Post-secondary education and / or Professional Designation in Property and / or Facility Management or a related field (e.g. SFP, CET, CFM, etc.).
