Mission

The Project Engineer, Water Infrastructure will contribute to engineering studies, preliminary and detailed design and construction support services for municipal water projects in Ontario, including groundwater and surface water supply, treatment, pumping, storage and distribution.

The Project Engineer will have a strong understanding of the municipal engineering environment in Ontario, and have a track-

record of successful project delivery with 8-12 years of experience preferably in vertical works. Opportunity to work on both water and wastewater projects will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare documents such as environmental assessments / master plan reports, condition assessment reports, preliminary and design reports, technical specifications, cost estimates and approvals for municipal infrastructure projects
  • Participate in site inspections for condition assessment and / or design purposes
  • Complete conceptual and detailed design of projects related to water supply, treatment, pumping, storage and distribution and related supporting calculations.
  • Ability to complete similar tasks for wastewater will be an asset.

  • Coordinate design team activities, contract document preparation and tendering and addenda
  • Maintain project planning documentation including schedules, budgets, cost control processes and work procedures and contribute to project meetings
  • Liaise with clients, government and regulatory authorities to address their needs / comments, and guide a project through approvals processes
  • Contribute to project proposals and presentations
  • Manage and mentor junior staff
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Profile

  • 8+ years of professional experience in project planning and design of water infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated success and expertise in water infrastructure project planning and design, including knowledge of water treatment and supply equipment, storage and distribution hydraulics.
  • Proficient in the preparation of conceptual and detailed design drawings and reports, contract document preparation and tendering as well as construction sequencing and related risks
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary project team environment
  • Solid technical writing skills demonstrated through experience in writing reports and proposals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
