    Position Description :

    We are recruiting for an Analyst - Data Specialist (Contract) in the Cash and Liquidity Group ( CLG ). The Cash and Liquidity Group is a team within CPPIB’s Public Market Investment department.

    Working in partnership with Total Portfolio Management, Core Services and Investment Departments, the group coordinates and optimizes funding and liquidity to prudently manage CPPIB’s overall balance sheet.

    Sources of funding such as the issuance of commercial paper and medium term notes provide flexibility in meeting cash requirements that may not match cyclical flows from the CPP.

    We manage a pool of liquid securities to ensure coverage of all expected cash outflows under stressed market conditions, and to provide capital for future investments.

    The successful candidate will leverage knowledge of investment products, capital markets and technology to assist in the implementation of new models and tools within CLG. The candidate will :

  • Assist in designing and implementing a consolidation plan for front office data infrastructure in CLG, ensuring seamless business operation and integrity of data during the consolidation process
  • Develop, document and maintain new additions to the CLG data infrastructure, working in both SQL and Python
  • Perform ad-hoc data inquiries and analysis to support various CLG portfolio management activities such as back-testing and scenario analysis
  • Support data related initiatives to ensure quality, sensibility and availability of data
  • Position Requirements :

    If you possess the following, we’d like to hear from you :

  • Bachelor / Master Degree in Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline
  • 2-4 years of experience working with and interpreting financial data
  • A minimum intermediate level knowledge in Microsoft SQL database with demonstrable examples of firsthand experience in both database design (tables, views, stored procedures, etc.) and query data
  • Solid understanding in relational database design principles, experience in dealing with large amount of data (parsing and cleaning), and dealing with potential performance consideration / optimization with large datasets
  • Excellent knowledge in Excel and VBA code development
  • Experience in development with an object-oriented program language, particularly in Python (Pandas / Numpy); experience with Jenkins would also be an asset
  • Quick learner with strong problem-solving skills, ability to think out of the box and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a culture of high performance, under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a dynamic team environment - actively participates in team meetings, cooperates and shares information to contribute to the effectiveness of the team
