As a Buyer you process purchasing requisitions from the managers in the field, turning requisitions into purchase orders while being responsible for creating purchase order tracking systems, alerting management when orders have been filled and invoices from vendors have been issued and answering vendor questions.
Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities.
Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers by applying negotiation and procurement best practise tools and methods.
Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Logistics or a related field required.
2+ years of experience in a purchasing position with demonstrated knowledge of purchasing strategies.
Strong organizational, communication and negotiating skills.
Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word and industry standard purchase order software platforms.
Familiarity with purchasing best practices, market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques.
