Job Profile

Reporting to the Controller you will be responsible for supervising and coaching clerical accounting team. You will have full responsibility for payroll processing, commission recording, assisting in various financial reporting tasks as well as working with Controller and operational personnel to handle day to day financial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Actively oversees the day-to-day operations of the Finance department and ensure compliance of accounting standards and company policies
  • Assist with account reconciliations, preparation of monthly / quarterly financial results, annual financial statements and operational budget analysis on a timely basis
  • Full responsibility of payroll accounting procedures and work with staffs on tasks related to commission cycle
  • Participate in developing, implementing and maintaining financial policies and procedures
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and prepare journal entries for each pay period in a timely and accurate manner
  • Calculate applicable taxable benefits and prepare tax forms such as T4s
  • Communicate, coordinate and answer payroll inquiries
  • Other payroll accounting related tasks as required
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Senior level student in the CPA program or recently designated
  • Experience in payroll accounting is an asset
  • Leadership experience as team lead, supporting junior staff
  • Take the initiative to drive changes by designing workflows, standardizing procedures, and implementing controls and reconciliations
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to build trusting relationship with ease
  • Excellent problem solving skills demonstrated by analyzing challenges proactively and brainstorming solutions to effectively complete the tasks
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work in a team setting and mentor staff as needed
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Proficient with software with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
