What is the opportunity?

Utilizing Hadoop Data Lake and container based workload distribution, RBC Capital Markets is building out a compute fabric cluster employing containers like Docker, OpenShift.

This platform will support multiple apps & users across US, Canada and the UK, and over 15 tools that are available to 50+ application teams.

We are looking for Toronto Engineers to join our Compute Fabric team. You will lead initiatives and provide hands-on technical support / knowledge sharing to application teams.

You will also work on integration of DevOps practices in compute fabric workflows.

  • Associate Director, Senior Compute Fabric Engineer
  • What will you do?

  • Act as a local SME collaborating with Developers, QA, support teams as well as management on prioritization and overall strategic direction.
  • Coordinate with Application teams on roadmap and execution strategy.
  • Manage Compute fabric and Data lake platform.
  • Identify areas of improvements and contribute in implementing solutions.
  • Participate in POCs of new tools.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to improve adoption.
  • Create and / or integrate systems, utilities and scripts to automate deployment and monitoring of builds and environments.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud, IT-Risk and Info-sec teams to engineer solutions adoption of containers and the cloud.
  • What do you need to succeed?

    Must Haves :

    5+ years relevant career experience (Engineer position) >

    7-9+ years for AD / Senior position

  • 5+ years experience working with Linux (RedHat is plus) and current hands-on scripting expertise (Python, Ruby)
  • 3+ years experience working with DevOps tools : Jira, SVN / GitHub, Jenkins / Teamcity, Nexus
  • 1-2 years experience in Docker and other container technologies >
  • 3+ years for AD / Senior position

  • 1-2 years Openshift, kubernetes, mesos experience >
  • 3+ years for AD / Senior position


  • Experience with Hadoop and related technologies like spark, hive, yarn etc.
  • Experience with building data science platform.
