The opportunity :
Reporting to the Vice-President, Sales & Service, the Director, Business Financial Centre is responsible for developing and executing the Business Financial Centre’s strategies that support the achievement of growth, financial sustainability and social impact objectives.
To this end the Director provides leadership and direction, as well as consultative support. The Director is responsible for the advice based sales culture through sales leadership and relationship management, member satisfaction, process excellence, service standards and increasing market share.
Actively leads, develops, and mentors a high-performing team to deliver and exceed expectations through advice based sales and process efficiency while coaching individual employees to realize their professional development goals.
Responsible to represent ACU, deepen existing member relationships, establish new member relationships and proactively build business in the community.
Develops effective working relationships with other member facing areas, back office support areas and key external suppliers in order to maximize the effectiveness of distribution network and develop an efficient, integrated, seamless experience for our members
Proactively identifies and acts upon non-commercial sales opportunities; partnering with the appropriate teams including community, retail, wealth management, and others to solicit referrals as appropriate.
Ultimately responsible for the development, maintenance and quality of all agency and vendor relationships that support ACU’s Business Financial Centre.
Acts as an ambassador of ACU by looking for opportunities to promote products and services and seek referrals from members and non-members.
Acts as an ambassador of ACU by being visible in the organization and the community in support of corporate and community initiatives.

Strategic & Operational Planning
Develops and implements strategies required to achieve ACU’s growth, financial sustainability and social impact objectives through a professional team of account managers, sales support and deposit specialists.
Contributes to corporate strategic and operational planning through the provision of sales information, analysis, projections and recommendations.
Develops, implements and manages ACU’s Business Financial Centre budget including all capital, operating and personnel expenses.
Ultimately accountable for the operations and performance of the Business Financial Centre.
Builds, implements and evolves an advice based sales culture to support the achievement of sales objectives and ACU’s overall business plan.
Provides leadership, management, coaching and clearly communicates defined, measurable goals and expectations to the sales and support staff.
Maintains current and relevant knowledge of industry trends, competitor products and strategies.
Regulation & Compliance
Builds and maintains a culture of compliance and operational excellence in a multi-regulatory environment.
Leads and supports the development of commercial banking policies and practices to ensure regulatory compliance and administration, internal control, privacy and adherence to legislation.
Ensures that compliance and risk management controls, such as assigned credit limits, are apparent in the achievement of sales objectives.
Education & Experience
The competencies for the position would typically be acquired through a degree or diploma ideally in commerce or business administration, plus seven to ten years of contemporary commercial banking and management experience in the financial services industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
