Brief description of the project :

Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning (TRU-OL) is looking for a qualified content expert / curriculum consultant to review EDDL 5151 Managing Your Technology Classroom :

Participants will explore a variety of methodologies, tools and technologies to enhance teaching and learning in their specific educational context.

They will engage in critical discourse about the use of information technology in a number of different educational settings, evaluate the resources available to them, and develop strategies to make the most effective use of those resources for themselves and their students.

Course Development Process :

The content expert / curriculum consultant will work under the guidance of an instructional designer, and in collaboration with the course development team, to provide the following for the course development process :

1. Input into the planning phase, including the review of the development of a detailed blueprint or course framework that includes relevant learning outcomes.

2. Review learning activities, content and authentic assessments to ensure that they are relevant and appropriate for an online paced course.

TRU-OL uses a collaborative approach to course development that involves interactive planning meetings and review sessions as needed.


Criteria for assignment of work :

The successful candidate will be selected on the basis of the following criteria :

  • PhD or Doctorate in Education or a related field with expertise in digital, networked and open learning environments.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in effective pedagogical practices working with diverse learners considering aboriginal worldviews and perspectives, as well as intercultural and adult learning principles.
  • Evidence of substantial and recent engagement in digital, networked and open learning through peer reviewed dissemination of research and / or the scholarship of teaching.
  • Proven course development skills in a face-to-face or distance environment, including the ability to write in a clear and consistent style with grammatical accuracy, to meet deadlines and to work in a collaborative and consultative manner.
  • Experience or education in online course development or online facilitation is an asset but not required.
  • Pay Band
