About the role
We are looking for an energetic individual to improve the way in which the Functional Risk team plan within Group Internal Audit (GIA), deliver and report on internal audits and assurance.
This includes providing assurance over the effectiveness of the Group’s Internal Control and Governance Frameworks for the Audit Committee in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, IS&T, Procurement, Sales & Marketing, Corporate Relations, Legal Governance and Ethics & Integrity.
This role provides a great opportunity to interface with a diverse range of functional leaders and service providers, and deliver a robust audit and assurance process to support the business to enhance and protect Rio Tinto value.
Reporting to the General Manager Internal Audit, you will :
Manage planning and delivery of Internal Audits on Functional Risks with the audit service provider.
Project manage audits you lead including scheduling, cost management and resourcing.
Build and maintain relationships with leaders in assigned risk areas and support the Functional Risk Team to collaborate andtransfer knowledge
Source, engage and manage subject matter experts and guest auditors to support the audits
Contribute to reports for the Executive Committee and Rio Tinto Board Committees.
Support and drive continuous improvement within the overall team;
Provide internal advisory services where required ensuring GIA’s independence and objective assurance is maintained.
Contribute to the three year assurance plan including regular reviews with Group Risk, the Integrated Assurance Management Office (IAMO) and other key stakeholders;
Manage the action follow-up and close-out process for allocated audits in accordance with Group Internal Audit methodology
Be a role model by consistently displaying exemplary Rio Tinto’s leadership behaviours and values (Safety, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Excellence); and
Represent the General Manager, Internal Audit Functional Risk at Audit Forums and Management Committees where appropriate and required.
To succeed in this role, you will have :
Undergraduate / post-graduate degree in science, engineering, finance or business
Auditing experience, Certified Internal Auditor (or equivalent) is desirable.Experience with international assurance frameworks (e.
g. ISAE3000) is an advantage.
Membership of an appropriate professional institute that has oversight of relevant areas of specialisation and continuing professional education / development requirements is encouraged
Demonstrated experience in a mining, mineral processing or related industry
Finance or business-related experience is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to influence through positive interpersonal relationships and collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Good networking, interpersonal and communication skills
Self-motivated with strong initiative and a proactive approach
