Reporting to the Supervisor, Field Services, the Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for providing repairs, overhauls, and new builds for Komatsu 980E Haul Truck, and other SMS supported equipment on the Fort Hills site.
This position will employ logic and deductive reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs, and complete overhauls on the Komatsu 980E Haul Truck, and other SMS supported equipment on the Fort Hills site
Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement
Interpret work order and technical manuals
Complete job specific reports and paperwork as needed
Work remotely in adverse weather conditions
Job tasks may be physically demanding lifting up to 50 lbs.
Other duties as required
The successful candidate will possess a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification or Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Off-
Road certification and a minimum of three years industry related experience. Other requirements include, but are not limited to :
Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset
Experience in repair / maintenance of heavy duty equipment
Experience with Komatsu Equipment is considered an asset
Strong commitment to safety
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision
This position is a fly in fly out rotational position working a 7 on 7 off, 12 hours per shift schedule including days and nights.
Flights to site marshal out of Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB.
