Border Trade Manager

Our client is a well recognized, top-tiered multinational food manufacturer. Due to growth, they have asked Cornelius Wong of Lock Search Group to assist them in their search for a Border Trade Manager to join their team.

This position will be based out of their Mississauga office and reports to the Director of Supply Chain. This position has no direct reports.

Lock Search Group Highlight of Responsibilities :

  • Provide strategic direction for the management of Import Operations and Free Trade Agreements. OGD requirements on customs strategies and goals that create value for the organization.
  • Management of activities surrounding classification, valuation, reconciliation of assists, Free Trade Program, Global Affairs quota systems, entry compliance, training of internal departments and support marketing projects.
  • Knowledge and experience working with CBSA CSA program
  • Communicate and train logistics on company import programs (PARS and CSA)
  • Be the lead on all border government requests from CBSA, CFIA, Global Affairs and CITT
  • Interact and advise marketing and R&D for new cross border ventures
  • Management of Global Affairs Ministerial Exemptions and quota programs for chicken and dairy
  • Understanding of Canada’s dairy import programs
  • Support all activities relating to meat imports (USDA and CFIA)
  • Ensure Seamless Flow of finished goods, raw materials, equipment and samples
  • Interact and support all customs initiatives
  • Qualifications :

  • 5-7 years of experience with import / export compliance & operations & experience with Canada Customs, CFIA, Global Affairs
  • Working knowledge of import / export regulations
  • Knowledgeable in international shipping and customs procedures
  • Certified Customs Broker
  • Working knowledge of NAFTA and other trade legislation, agreements and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) with ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledgeable in international shipping and customs procedures
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Strong quantitative, problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
