The CTR Promotional Planning team is the central planning hub for creating the weekly flyer which drives sales and profit by engaging consumers with exciting and inspirational product offers.
The Promotional Planning team is accountable for creating and managing the weekly flyer space allocation, themes and events, flyer pagination and flow and financial forecasts and actuals.
Other CTC banners perform analogous planning tasks at differing levels of sophistication.
The Promo Modelling Analyst role improves and upgrades existing models and assists on prototyping new models under the direction of the Sr.
Analyst. These models are based on relevant working descriptive, predictive and prescriptive statistical / machine learning models and optimization tools that are used by promotions operations teams to improve flyer / digital offer performance.
The models that are created will be used to drive on-going improvements to flyer financials and promo offering success, while working inside of operational budget constraints.
The dynamic environment requires individuals with a cross-functional background, excellent organizational skills, experience working in a project environment, advanced analytical ability, strong communication skills to deal effectively with stakeholders and the ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
The primary responsibilities of the Modelling Analyst include :
Implementing changes to existing models to improve output quality.
Implementing new models based on proof of concepts / logic defined by a Senior Modelling Analyst
Making recommendations to improve existing models / finding solutions to existing model shortfalls based on deep understanding of the model logic
Understanding the business context in which their models operate to ensure model results are actionable
Executing and monitoring model validation workflows and notify the Senior Modelling Analyst / Manager when problems arise, providing production support as necessary.
Working with the process & operations team to ensure model results / recommendations are fully understood and integrated into weekly, seasonal and annual promotion planning processes.
Ensuring all upgrades / new models are productionizable and that documentation and code storage standards are met.
Providing ad hoc analytics and recommendations for action as needed
Having a concrete understanding of data sources and data quality, based on relevant information from a Data Analyst
Qualifications : Professional
Post-Secondary Education in Mathematics, Statistics or Programming; Master’s degree an asset
0-3 years’ experience in a business environment
Strong familiarity with statistical modeling tools, machine learning libraries or an equivalent Operations Research-based modeling tool.
KNIME, R, Python and IBM CPLEX are preferred.
A high level proven capability of how to use analytics in problem solving
Experience building reports and visualizations in Tableau or an equivalent platform.
Good working knowledge of an object-oriented programming language.
Able to work with relational databases via SQL, understanding of big data concepts a plus
Intermediate to high level knowledge of standard desktop tools (MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Work with complex and evolving systems and extensive and varied data & data sources
Adapt to rapid and continuous change to the Model requirements
