Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) is currently recruiting for the following position : Director, Finance .
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Corporate Services, the Director, Finance is responsible for : leadership of staff, performance optimization of people, processes and procedures in the areas of general accounting, payables, payroll, group benefits, grant finance, gift processing and investment portfolio;
establishment of all financial processes and procedures, ensuring appropriate internal controls and compliance by all staff;
generation of financial statements and reports; leading budgeting and financial forecasting for the whole organization; compliance with all legislation and guidelines related to financial matters;
oversight and accountability for external audit, year-end processes, tax filings and related reporting; and supporting the Vice President, Finance & Corporate Services in meeting the needs of all business partners including ELT, CEO, Audit & Risk Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Your Direct Reports include : Finance & Grants Accountability Manager (1); Financial Analyst (1); Payroll and Benefits Specialist (1);
Accounts Payable Accountant (1); General Accountant (1); Gift Processing Specialist (1); Gift Processor (1); and Temporary Accounting Support roles.
This position also provides guidance to the Country Office Finance Managers with respect to financial controls, reporting and funding flows with respect to field operations.
The Director, Finance participates on the Audit & Risk Committee of the Board of Directors; acts on behalf of Vice President, Finance & Corporate Services in their absence;
and leads and participates in various projects.
Required Qualifications :
University degree in a related discipline (Business, Commerce, etc.)
Professional Accounting designation CPA (formerly CA / CGA / CMA)
10+ years experience in a senior managerial capacity in finance; charitable experience desirable
Experience leading, managing and motivating a diverse team of accounting professionals to achieve optimum performance
Thorough technical knowledge of accounting rules, practices, principles and controls and the full monthly and yearly financial reporting and accounting cycle
Experience developing and updating financial policies and related procedures supporting appropriate internal controls
Thorough understanding of registered charity tax and legal requirements
Thorough understanding of Fund Accounting and the Deferral Method of not-for-profit accounting standards
Investment knowledge and experience
Demonstrated ability to develop, review and optimize internal processes and controls
Proven experience in problem analysis and decision making
Demonstrated commitment to designing and managing service level agreements with vendors and business partners (stakeholders)
Strong inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills
Experience making presentations to senior leaders and Board of Directors and their committees
Ability to work confidentially with sensitive information
Ability to work collaboratively within internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work in a self-directed manner
Ability to speak and / or write in either French or Spanish will be considered an asset
