SUMMARY OF TASKS :
Reporting the Quality Control Manager, the successful candidate will work 12 hours per shift (6am-6pm or 6pm-6am), on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, on a days and nights rotational schedule.
Supports and maintains Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P’s quality standards;
Monitors the quality of all raw and finished products through bacterial, chemical organoleptic evaluation;
Collect and perform microbiological and organoleptic analysis on various incoming ingredients and finished dairy products;
Prepare a variety of microbiological media and chemical solutions required for use in the lab;
Collect and analyses various environmental samples taken throughout the plant;
Analyse ingredient and finished product samples for various chemical and microbiological components;
Assist in the proper maintenance of equipment used for this duty;
Assist to investigate customer & consumer complaints;
Communicate results to QC Supervisor and provides troubleshooting evaluation and assistance to Production and Maintenance;
Assesses plant sanitation and general housekeeping;
Perform HACCP related tasks as assigned;
Ensure that all work is performed safely while following OH&S, WCB, and Company regulations and procedures;
Other duties as assigned.
Post-secondary education in Food Sciences, Dairy Technology, Microbiology. A two year post-secondary diploma in Food Processing, or a University degree in Dairy Science, Food Science or Microbiology preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Knowledge of, and experience with, computer systems and programs (Word, Excel, Outlook);
Training in the application of microbiology to the food and dairy production plant and to plant sanitation (an asset);
Microbiological laboratory ability;
Strong organizational and analytical skills;
Accuracy and attention to detail;
Ability to work with limited supervision.
