As Regional Director, Finance you will be responsible for the full financial cycle for the Eastern Region - including operating financial, third party payments to CRA for payroll, balance sheet, fixed assets, budgeting, national accounts payable, internal and external reporting, stakeholder (internal and external) relationships.
You will report to and actively support the Vice-President Business Optimization and CFO, in various continuous improvement initiatives through regular analysis and business process review.Responsibilities :
Manage and oversee the general accounting and financial reporting for VON Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Community Corporations
Support finance managers and site staff to produce monthly financial statements and variance reporting
Take an active leadership role in continuous improvement and business optimization
Lead the cash management / treasury function
Support labour relations in providing reports on spend
Oversee audit function in collaboration with Regional Finance Directors
Oversee National Accounts Payable processing centre
Coordinate Regional budget process annually
Ensure all legal and statutory reporting requirements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis are filed for sites and programs
Support Finance Directors, VPs and Finance Team by conducting regular and ad hoc variance analysis and reporting to assess operating performance and service delivery
Provide analytical support relating to service costing and pricing
Complete monthly roll up of variance reporting and coordinate monthly variance and statistical reporting process
Assist in the coordination of the annual budget process and recommend necessary amendments to annual budget model, including education for finance team and sites
Support / lead the documentation and testing of internal controls for significant business processes within his / her area of responsibility
Support / lead the preparation of technical accounting position papers to support the implementation of new accounting pronouncement
Support the creation of new reporting templates for external funders
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers / contacts
University degree and a professional accounting designation
A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Finance including managing people along with a minimum of 5 years of experience within SAP ERM systems in a business environment as well as leading month end through business day 1-21 cycle
Experience working in a multi-location / multi-program environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced working knowledge of Excel
Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively within time constraints
Demonstrated knowledge of Accounting Principles and Standards for Not for Profit Accounting
A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required.
A Vulnerable Sector Search and / or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required.
Ability to speak French is an asset in French Designated areas
