Responsibilities

  • a proven performer, with strong leadership and supply chain management / logistics experience
  • responsible for liaising with the Warehouse and Operations Manager, sourcing products, working with vendors (250+), negotiating price, developing standards of quality, managing rebates, replenishing inventory levels and ensuring that all warehouse locations are adequately serviced for regular, promotional and seasonal demand requirements
  • controlling inventory levels considering sales cycle time objectives and capacity restraints
  • work in a highly cross functional environment and will be responsible for leading a team
  • strong negotiation experience to develop good working relationship with new and existing vendors
  • responsible for creating, managing and driving appropriate KPIs for all aspects pertaining to procurement (customer expectations, profit, growth, etc.
  • Facilitate strong methods of :
  • Product sourcing, including negotiating prices
  • Forecasting (including seasonal requirements)
  • Order review
  • Inventory management (including stock levels at each warehouse)
  • Developing product standards of quality
  • Rebate management (for products purchased and sold)
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager to understand the movements of products in and out of the warehouses.
  • Coach, train and develop the purchasing team.
  • Own vendor management by collaborating with them to improve service and manage fill rates and delivery times. Manage existing and create new relationships where required.
  • Understand production scheduling and logistics activities as it pertains to meeting product demand.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Web Development teams to understand trends in new products, product lines and platforms for future development (understand the complexity of order fulfillment and key customer issues).
  • Keep Sales Managers informed on work in progress and potential production / purchasing issues to ensure that key stakeholders are notified of potential product shortfalls.
  • Develop and manage major initiatives that enable growth and improve margin.
  • Builds relationships with key customer partners to drive mutual Supply Chain efficiencies aimed at improving service and savings.
  • Understand and communicate commercial market changes that drive or impact service.
  • Establish daily, weekly, and monthly production KPI’s in order to understand customer service levels. Improvements of fill rates and backorders are of high priority.
  • Analyze and report data to identify opportunities to achieves new and existing procurement objectives.
  • Requirements

  • Post secondary education in business, engineering, logistics or related field
  • Experience working with a formal ERP warehouse management system in a high SKU environment.
  • Must be driven to improve processes and take initiative to highlight opportunities.
  • Effective communication; knowing when to escalate impending issues.
