  • Leads, directs and manages Veterans Service Team operations, which may be located in a multi-site designated geographic area, through the sound management of resources;
  • and supports / ensures the well-being and security of staff.

  • Fosters a collaborative working environment conducive to optimum performance and the achievement of objectives and service standards;
  • defines goals and establishes performance expectations; leads team meetings; and communicates and supports the impact of changes in legislation, policy and procedures and related information to team members.

    Exercises quality control, performs quality assurance activities and develops quality improvement plans on the work performed by subordinate staff in support of the national quality compliance and quality assurance program as lead by Head Office.

  • Monitors and evaluates local trends in service delivery to ensure the operational, performance and service standards are met;
  • and contributes to departmental reporting requirements.

  • Makes recommendations to management teams and senior managers on matters related to client service delivery and VAC’s programs / benefits;
  • leads and participates on internal and external local, regional and national committees, working groups, projects and initiatives;
  • and participates in the development, evaluation and implementation of national programs and services.

    Intent of the process

    Create an inventory which can be used for permanent, temporary, full-time, part-time, or casual appointments.

    NOTE - casual employment means a short-term employment option to hire persons to the Public Service for a period not to exceed 90 working days in one department in any one calendar year

    Graduation with a bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

    Experience in managing individuals working in an interdisciplinary health-care, social services, or military environment.

    Experience in directing the provision of benefits or services.

    Experience in resource management (financial, physical and information).

    Client Service Orientation

    A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a specialty relevant to the position.

    Experience in case management.

    Experience as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.

    Experience in dealing with a military culture.

    Experience directing or supervising staff within an inter-disciplinary team environment.

    Veterans Service Team Managers are assigned to a primary work location but may be required to work at various locations and travel between these locations.

    Availability to work overtime.

    Must be willing to work occasional overtime evenings and weekends, sometimes with little or no notice.

    Must be willing to occasionally officially represent the Department at functions such as conferences, commemorative events, etc.

    Conditions of employment

    For Edmonton IPSC and Edmonton Office positions : Consent to be deployed or assigned within the Edmonton offices (IPSC, Edmonton), as per the organizational needs.

    For Ste-Foy and Valcartier IPSC positions : Consent to be deployed or assigned within the Quebec Area (Ste-Foy or Valcartier), as per the organizational needs.
