Position Overview Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Human Resources - Strategic Projects is responsible for identifying, planning, facilitating, coordinating, managing, implementing and providing oversight to identified strategic HR projects and priorities for the City.

In alignment with the City’s Values, key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Manage projects through the critical phases of project implementation to ensure that the coordination and integration of organizational objectives are fulfilled as a means of improving customer service standards, developing efficiencies, and / or innovating systems and processes at the City.
  • Work on numerous projects, balance project timelines, budgets and conflicting priorities to ensure that time and resources are appropriately allocated.
  • Identify opportunities for developing new initiatives and projects to enhance HR and Corporate functions.
  • Research and assist in the implementation of best practices within the City and develop the project methodology, processes, tools, templates and techniques to effectively manage transformation initiatives / projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify, problem solve and work to remove barriers to successful completion of projects, with emphasis on resolving issues and facilitating collaborative relationships across Divisions and with all stakeholders.
  • Leverage internal resources and departmental support to enable project alignment to the organization’s strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate and liaise with HR team members on shared activities to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate policy development and analysis which includes researching and recommending best practices for HR policies and administrative procedures.
  • Prepare reports, briefings and presentations as required.
  • Education & Experience Post-secondary degree in Human Resources Management plus extensive Human Resources generalist experience in a large organizational setting is required.

  • Be easily adaptable and flexible to meet changing priorities and resource constraints.
  • Licences & Certificates & Registrations Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia. Preferred Qualifications Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is preferred.

    Working Conditions and Effort Work is mostly performed in an office environment. Group Exempt Department Human Resources Division Deputy CAO Administration Posted Date 4 / 11 / 2018 Compensation Range $102,228 to $127,784 Annually
