Job Summary and Requirements

This is a full-time permanent position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The Land Management Branch is an effective steward of public land for the benefit of current and future generations of all Yukon people.

As a member of the Land Use unit within the Land Management Branch, the Project Manager assumes leadership in the development, planning and implementation for small, medium and large-

scale projects. Under the direction of the Manager Land Use, the Project Manager will ensure that outcomes and deliverables support program needs and statutory requirements.

The position is responsible for providing the full range of professional level, project management services which spans the total project life cycle.

The position analyzes and interprets a wide variety of acts, regulations and policies to provide resource management and technical advisory services to senior management, staff and clients.

The position conducts research and provides technical and operational expertise in the development of policy and legislation.

In addition, the position reviews complex legal land issues and works with various departments and branches to ensure that Yukon government land management objectives and responsibilities are met in an integrated manner.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following education and exprience. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Post-secondary education in project management, environmental studies, resource management, or a related field.
  • Experience in the following areas :

  • Managing all components of large complex projects with a preference for land reclamation / remediation;
  • Preparing requests for proposals (RFP’s) and managing contracts;
  • Working on complex projects with a variety of stakeholders, including First Nations, who have diverse interests;
  • Applying or administering legislation related to land management; and
  • Conducting field work and performing field inspections in a natural resource environment
  • Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

    Candidates should have and may be assessed on :

  • Excellent leadership, planning, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive operational experience in natural resource management
  • Ability to prioritize, plan and implement components of complex projects against critical deadlines
  • Ability to build consensus, diffuse and resolve conflicts with stakeholders and contractors
  • Ability to act independently as well as part of a team in a client service oriented environment
  • Additional Information :

    Conditions of Employment : Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s licence.

    Job Requirements : Willingness to travel within and outside of the Yukon
