The Electrical Controls Specialist, will offer technical and control support as it relates to the production of Weld Control Panels.
He / she will work in conjunction with the Engineering Application Specialist to develop weld panel final test procedures and to ensure design and control functions have been met during the manufacturing process.
He / she will also work in conjunction with the Panel Tester to ensure any required test procedure updates are properly logged / maintained.
Finally, the successful candidate will assist the manufacturing team members with the training, testing cell hardware upkeep, test equipment selection and production line troubleshooting of control panels.
PRIMARY KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & SERVICES :
Provide technical assistance as it relates to the programming / function / troubleshooting of the controls that are in our weld panels
Validate / create test procedures to ensure manufactured weld panels conform to current Bosch testing criteria
Have a complete understanding of the manufacturing test processes and quality control requirements
Design and detail all electrical aspects for an electrical weld panel using AutoCad electrical
Provide technical support for all electrical drawings and updates as required
Find efficient and economical solutions to challenges encountered during the design / production process
Complete assigned projects to established target dates
Assist as a schematic reviewer to ensure initial concept drawings capture all customer requirements
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES & SERVICES :
Work within our SAP operating system, to generate weld panel bill of materials (BOMs) and routings, while providing lead-
times and concept drawings for sales (quotation package)
Keep job files organized and monitor progress during all stages of production
Thoroughly check and request changes to schematics and BOMs to improve design and manufacturing efficiency
Carefully review customer specifications and job files to fulfill all necessary requirements
Have a complete understanding of the manufacturing assembly processes and quality control requirements
Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as assigned
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
3-5 years experience in a controls / automation related field
Diploma in Electronics / Electrical Engineering
5-8 year experience in a controls / automation related field
PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION :
P.Eng in Electrical or E.I.T Electrical Disciplines or C.E.T in Electrical Engineering
In good standing with PEO / OACETT
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS :
Fundamental knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical software for electrical circuit design
Fundamental knowledge of electrical, electronic components and the reading of schematics
Strong knowledge and understanding of CSA and UL electrical standards
Ability to perform short circuit current rating calculations / analysis
Good understanding of drawings principals, and dimensioning techniques
Experience with electrical component selection and placement as it relates to control panel layout
Strong understanding of Industry Fieldbus exposure (i.e DeviceNet, Ethernet IP, Profibus topologies, setup, and troubleshooting)
PLC programming familiarity of IEC 61131-3 programming languages
Solid field commissioning and troubleshooting experience
Industry exposure to spot welding / robot control practices
Good organizational skills and able to stay focused given multiple deadlines
Exposure to root cause analysis finding and reporting
Strong technical background and aptitude
SAP, PP module knowledge
Above average communication and technical document writing skills
Proficiency with computers and software (e.g. Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Visio)
Ability to multitask and able to schedule and coordinate multiple projects while maintaining project deadlines
Familiarity with using a multi meter, oscilloscope and hi-pot tester
Willingness to commute to customer sites as needed (if design issues arise)
Preference will be given to someone with these additional skills :
3D Inventor software experience
Capable of generating 3D point-to-point wire harness designs
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to generate vendor 2D / 3D detail fabrication drawings
