The National Core Services Performance Engineering team is one of the instrumental teams that are working to make this all happen.

Our team has the privilege of working with latest technologies with variety of stakeholders across the company. We are responsible for defining technology strategy, design and solutions optimizations, as well as for a holistic architectural evolution.

As a member of the Wireless Networks & Services DevOps organization and as a Big Data expert and a hands-on coder, you will work in a team of talented networking engineers and software developers.

You will be responsible to architect and develop software frameworks and applications for variety of backend and mobile platforms in order to provide best possible performance of TELUS network.

  • Analyze business requirements, evaluate design approaches and provide estimates of work effort
  • Query, decipher and analyze data from various sources
  • Develop data visualization
  • Provide expertise on all technical questions related to development
  • Collaborate with team members, end users and / or other cross functional stakeholders as required
  • Mentor junior team members, drive high performance and highly engaged culture
  • Qualifications

    You're the missing piece of the puzzle

  • 3-5 years of experience working with data science concepts and applied knowledge of practices and methods of data science
  • Excellent knowledge in combining multiple data sources to uncover correlations, building models and creating algorithms
  • Excellent knowledge of anomaly detection and visualization development
  • Knowledge of Big Data standards and best practices
  • Excellent knowledge of Python and / or Java
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle), HDFS and MongoDB
  • Experience with commercial and / or open-source code repository (Git), configuration management, building and deployment (Jenkins, Maven, Docker, Vagrant) and visualization-
  • monitoring (Splunk, Tableau) tools and frameworks

  • Good knowledge of building applications using Open Source tools like Spark
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking including TCP / IP ports and firewalls, network protocols, and IP networks
  • Great-to-haves

  • Knowledge of 3GPP (LTE / UMTS / HSPA) Wireless standards
  • Experience with OpenStack
  • Master of Computer Science degree or a related discipline preferred
