An opportunity exists in our Windsor, ON office for a junior level Water and Wastewater Process Mechanical (CAD) Technologist to become part of a dynamic group providing professional services to our clients in the Water sector.
You will work as part of a team, and will be responsible for production of technical drawings, from initial planning to design and construction for primarily environmental infrastructure facilities, using AutoCAD and REVIT.
The ideal candidate will have a principal understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and systems, have technical abilities, be a skilled problem solver with attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
You must have successfully completed a related engineering diploma program from an accredited post-secondary institution.
The individual will be a self-starter and expected to work as a member of an interdisciplinary design team.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
Accurately read and interpret process and building mechanical drawings related to water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and mechanical piping systems.
Sets up new CAD drawings and Revit project files and maintains file structure for projects
Works with project managers and technical design staff to prepare drawing documentation
Skillfully works in AutoCAD Plant 3D on 3D projects; including maintaining multiple models, creating views, accurate object placement, and UCS manipulation
Creates electronic data files in compliance with Stantec and client requirements
Converts redlines to document-ready work
Publishes, posts, and manages drawing sets
Maintains drawing revisions
Adds insight and makes recommendations to add efficiencies and value to CAD and BIM production
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Must have 2 5 years’ CAD experience with Process Mechanical systems
Certificate from technical college and relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the architectural / engineering / contractor industry
Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment disciplines, and / or an education background in these areas
Has familiarity with Mechanical HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting and technology design within the building environment will be considered an asset
Proven design drafting skills in AutoCAD 2014-2017 2D and AutoCAD Plant 3D. Additional experience with Revit 3D Design will be considered an asset.
High level of initiative, with ability to synthesize new technologies, industry trends, and client needs to make recommendations and initiative changes that add efficiency and value
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work within a team, sharing workloads to meet deadlines.
