When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies.
As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
Due to technical difficulties, this inventory was closed and re-opened. Those with applications that were included in the previous inventory (2018-
PEN-EA-PAC-135091 / PEN18J-018363-000152) do not need to re-apply.
An inventory advertisement allows a continuous intake of applications, over as long a period as desired. This inventory has no closing date, although one may be added in the future.
Once a candidate has submitted their application it will stay active in the inventory (assuming it meets the essential screening criteria) for 180 days.
At the end of that period, candidates will need to refresh their application to ensure it stays active in the inventory.
15 days prior to the end of the 180 day period, candidates will receive a notice to their applicant profile instructing them that their application will expire unless it is refreshed.
Candidates are also able to withdraw their application from the inventory anytime they desire.
If you are found unsuccessful during any point of the process your application will not be considered again until 180 days has elapsed from the date of your elimination notification.
Since this process is being used to staff positions across the province, it is important that you ONLY indicate your true locations of interest as well as fully complete all screening questions.
The application process includes screening questions that will be used as part of the assessment. You will be prompted to complete a self-
assessment on some qualifications. We cannot make assumptions about your qualifications. It is important that candidates clearly demonstrate how and why they meet the qualifications, giving detailed examples for each element.
As such, it is imperative that candidates adequately complete the screening questionnaire and manage their time accordingly.
As asset qualifications could be used for referral of candidates, please ensure you complete the screening questions if you meet these qualifications.
A person may be appointed even though he / she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications. However, it may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
You will also be prompted to include the contact information of a supervisor or client who can validate each example. You will be advised before we communicate with your references.
You are responsible to ensure your referees are aware of this information.

Intent of the process
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to fill various positions of various tenures (e.g. casual, temporary and permanent) within the Correctional Service of Canada.

A secondary school diploma or successful completion of a provincially / territorially approved secondary school equivalency test.
Experience providing administrative or clerical support services in an office environment. (Defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties on a continuous basis over a period of approximately 3 months, within the last 5 years.)
Experience in the use of various software programs such as : Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Power Point.

Post-secondary education in a field related to the position.
Experience preparing meeting minutes.
Experience researching, extracting and compiling information from various sources.
Experience in the preparation of correspondence and reports.

Experience providing clerical / administrative support services related to Case Management.
Experience providing clerical / administrative support services related to Correctional Programs.

Experience providing clerical / administrative support services related to Contracting and / or Procurement.
Experience providing clerical / administrative support services related to Security.
Experience providing clerical / administrative support services in a Records Management environment.
Experience providing clerical / administrative support services in a Finance environment.
Experience providing clerical / administrative support services in an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) environment.
Experience working in a correctional environment.
Experience using the Offender Management System (OMS).
Experience using Integrated Financial and Material Management System (IFMMS).
Experience using an electronic records management system, such as OpenText or GCDocs.
Experience providing clerical / administrative support services to management, such as monitoring and managing their electronic inbox and managing their calendar.
Experience with Access to Information and Privacy policies and legislation.
Experience setting up and maintaining a Bring Forward (BF) system.
Experience processing offender complaints and / or grievances.
Experience working with Occupational Health and Safety.
