We are seeking a full time Clinical Research Assistant III to work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team in supporting the REthinking Clinical Trials (REaCT) Program including the grant-

funded REaCT NSQIP trial. The REaCT program is a novel model of clinical trial delivery involving the Division of Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, Department of Surgery, TOH Senior Management, and TOH Office of Quality and Performance.

The REaCT Program performs practical patient-focused research that ensures that patients receive optimal, safe, cost effective treatment.

It includes the pragmatic evaluation of standard, usual care interventions using efficient informed consent, efficient routinely collected electronic administrative and clinical data, and immediate implementation of findings into routine TOH practice.

The initial focus of the REaCT Program will target interventions in Medical Oncology.

Duties and Responsibilities :

As the Clinical Research Assistant III, you will facilitate the conduct of clinical research involving human subjects and patient information under the general direction of Scientists, Clinical Investigators and Program Managers, and involving Clinical Research Coordinators and Associates.

Brief Job Description :

An opening is currently available for an independent, responsible and experienced Clinical Research Assistant III to work with our team recruiting for REaCT studies.

The individual will be responsible for patient recruitment and follow up, data collection, data entry, oversight meetings, assistance in the preparation of ethics applications for the REaCT studies as well as participate in the performance of systematic reviews and literature searches for the REaCT program.

Basic Requirements (Education / Experience) :

  • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in health sciences or related field (e.g., RN or PT etc.)
  • A minimum 2 years of previous clinical research experience
  • Superior organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Strong computer skills : MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Access
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data and protocol requirements
  • Evidence of training certification in Tri-Council Policy Statement -2 (TCPS-2) and the International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (ICH-GCP)
  • Evidence of training in Food and Drug Regulations, Division 5, and / or Device Regulations, as applicable
  • Reporting :

    Operationally, the Clinical Research Assistant III will be under the Co-direction of the REaCT Investigators from the Division of Medical Oncology, and the Department of Surgery.

    Preferred Qualifications :

  • SOCRA or other certification
  • Knowledge of medical oncology
  • Knowledge of both official languages
  • The ability to work flexible hours
  • Skills and Abilities :

  • Proven self-starter
  • Proven ability to work independently, take direction from various sources and prioritize workload
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data and adherence to protocol requirements
  • Demonstrated collegiality and professionalism; ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills to work with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Excellent computer skills, including word processing, presentation, Internet and spreadsheet skills
  • Proficient in English
