Technology and OperationsTechnology and Operations (T&O), is comprised of four main groups that together proactively enable BMO to be the bank that defines great Customer Experience.

T&O operates in both Canada and the United States as well as in Asia and Europe.

  • Technology organization partners with BMO’s lines of business to develop technology and IT solutions that meet our customers’ current and future needs, maximize the value of our technology investment across BMO, and enable our frontline customer service employees to provide a great customer experience.
  • In addition, Technology’s Information Security team provides expert direction, planning and consultation on information security best practices and integrated processes.

    They also provide ongoing active information security leadership and management expertise to BMO.

  • Product Operations supports all lines of business, providing exceptional service, fulfillment, and administrative solutions that support our customers’ personal and business financial transactions.
  • Sourcing, Payables and Supplier Governance (SPSG) organization drives value for BMO by providing professional expertise to lead sourcing activities and supplier governance and the bank’s productivity initiatives as they relate to managing demand and supplier costs.
  • SPSG is also accountable for BMO’s procurement, payables, and supplier governance technology, applications and processes.

  • Corporate Real Estate manages the strategic planning and development, as well as the acquisition, sale, lease and facilities management of BMO's global real estate portfolio (including branch networks, office towers, critical facilities and BMO's data centres).
  • The group also manages the ongoing infrastructure of all BMO Financial Group’s real estate assets. Corporate Services is another group under CRE and includes the Corporate Art Collection, Corporate Archives and Translation Services.

    Position DescriptionThe Account Manager is accountable for the total business partner relationship management for Wealth Management Technology, and is the focal point for all technology planning and delivery services.

    In particular, he / she oversees the creation, alignment, and ongoing management of business / Information Technology (IT) strategies, project implementation, ongoing day-

    to-day maintenance and support, and IT Investment plan financial management.

  • Identifies business needs for new and enhanced products, services, and business processes, clarifies genuine technology requirements, and matches these to the business partner’s available products or services in order to understand and meet stakeholder needs
  • Works closely with the LTO and STOs to execute on LOB Technology strategies (both run the bank & change the bank initiatives)
  • Oversees multi-disciplined Technology teams to develop appropriate technology responses to address business initiatives
  • Provides consultancy and advice to business partners on the applicability and usability of alternative technology directions to help address the business problem / issue
  • Drives the conceptualization phase of technology projects and participates in the remaining project phases to ensure business partner needs are met
  • Collaborates with business partner executives and senior management to align technology directions with business strategy and plans and to translate these into technical business solutions
  • Develops and oversees IT financial governance and business partner technology investment, including planning and tracking of all budgets for projects and continuing operations, ongoing work prioritization, and monthly financial forecasting to ensure that finances are allocated appropriately
  • Provide informed and considered recommendations to improve productivity and profitability of technology platform assets
  • Develops and conducts regular Technology business partner account reviews at the executive and senior executive level to provide clarity around the project activities and financial spending
  • Negotiates service contracts with internal business partners and external vendors to ensure the best value for the Enterprise
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key third party service and solution providers to ensure productive and professional relationships
  • Negotiates complex contracts with external vendors (in consultation with Strategic Sourcing) to ensure receipt of specific resources and materials, as well as best value for the Enterprise.
  • Ensures day-to-day vendor relationship management occurs (including monitoring performance, reviewing and approving vendor invoices)

  • Audits documents and models produced by Business Analysts and Business Consultants, as required, in order to ensure quality of the product
  • Assess value of potential work; have complete understanding of all work included in the annual plan
  • Where required investigate, recommend and approve changes to systems, procedures, products and people to meet plans, achieve goals, and maximize scorecard
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, professional guidance, and support to Business Analysts and Business Consultants, as required, in order to foster professional development.
  • Provides managerial leadership to staff, which includes assigning tasks or work, holding regular two-way meetings, setting context, providing feedback on performance evaluations, mentoring, and coaching, in order to create and maintain a high-performing team.

  • Possesses a university degree / college diploma and / or 12 + years progressive business analysis / business consultant experience, supporting and leading large and enterprise-
  • wide projectsPossesses 3-5 years of people management experience, building, recruiting and managing a team of 5-10 business analysts and consultantsWealth management technology and business domain experience and knowledgeKnowledgeable about wealth management industry trends, including new technologies and how they are impacting the advisory business and customer needs and preferencess

  • Possesses broad / diverse business knowledge of a range of functions, products, and / or systems, or expert knowledge of specialized functions, products and / or systems
  • Possesses extensive practical experience in application development and / or business partner solution delivery
  • Understands current technology trends and process quality methodologies and how these can be applied to the business partner’s business
  • Possesses financial / business management expertise
  • Demonstrates expert understanding of the Enterprise’s financial processes, in particular those used within T&O
  • Exhibits solid knowledge of project management disciplines, practices, and processes (SLDC, PMLC)
  • Understands the Requirements Management Process, software development, and engagement processes
  • Understands the T&O organization (i.e., the relations between different technology areas) and stays abreast of the current organizational state
  • Understands and is familiar with the application of techniques associated with data modeling, process modeling, and user-
  • centred design within the context of the organizational standards
