Nurse Practitioner - Cold Lake, Alberta About the role : Calian is looking forward to continuing our existing decade-long relationship with the Department of National Defense by employing civilian healthcare professionals at 20 locations across Canada, who provide medical support to the Canadian Forces Cadet Summer Camp Program.

Every summer, Cadets attend youth summer camps to expand on their training and to network with Cadets from across Canada.

These camps require the support of qualified medical professionals to respond to a wide range of healthcare needs from the campers.

Nurse Practitioners are needed to run routine medical clinics, responding to urgent and ongoing health concerns. In this role you will order and interpret screening and diagnostic tests, perform procedures and prescribe medications, with a focus on ensuring the ongoing good health of the campers.

Education on communicable diseases, responding to first aid concerns, and supporting mental health needs will be daily aspects of the role.

These roles are best suited to Nurse Practitioners with flexibility in their schedules to commit to working one to eight weeks every summer in the camps, with the opportunity to return yearly to the role.

You will also benefit from working in a team environment in scenic locations across the country. Opportunities are available in Cold Lake, Alberta. The qualifications :

  • Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in your province of work
  • CPR certificate
  • WHMIS certificate from the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening police check Type of assignment : Summer camps occur every year from July through AugustCommitments of a couple of days to up to 8 weeks are acceptable, based on your availability
