Job Summary and Requirements

This is a Term position ending D ecember 31, 2020

The Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board’s mandate is to prevent disability in Yukon workplaces by promoting an integrated culture of safety, by facilitating proactive and innovative, stay and work, return to work and recovery programs, and by operating a fair and sustainable compensation system.

We seek individuals who share our passion for preventing disability and who demonstrate the Board’s values of partnership, accountability and compassion to join our team.

This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and organizational coordination in respect of the identification, development and implementation of Yukon Government legislation, public education and programme services relating to Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Health and Safety in the Yukon.

We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual who has strong leadership skills, excellent interpersonal and strong oral and written communications skills, the ability to manage and prioritize a heavy workload, and the ability to foster a high degree of collaboration and can work effectively with colleagues.

The ideal candidate will have experience providing strategic advice, developing and implementing legislation, policy, and / or public education and is comfortable taking the initiative in a situation and working independently.

Essential Qualifications :

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • University diploma or degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Public Administration or related discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic direction and advice, preferably to a Board of Directors or Executive level committee ;
  • Experience interpreting, developing and implementing legislation, policy, and / or public education;
  • Experience in communications outreach and public education delivery;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining stakeholder partnerships or performing key client management role; and
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and software skills (MS Office, Powerpoint, Excel) within a Windows environment.
  • Candidates who have education, training and / or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
