Description

Based in our Richmond Hill office, the Civil Engineer will be completing assignments on Civil Engineering Projects and perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.

Projects involvement will range from site feasibility analysis to detailed design and assistance through the construction phase.

The Civil Engineer will assume some project management duties and have interaction with clients. Primary Responsibilities The primary duties of the Civil Engineer will be to provide design, report writing, planning and production for civil assignment on a wide variety of projects that will include site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, parking lot design, municipal infrastructure, site utilities, and associated general civil engineering needs.

The preparation of quantity calculations, specifications and contract documents, and permitting will also be required. The ideal candidate will be fully experienced in the above requirements and a competent engineer.

This person will also make decisions on design and engineering procedures; may function as technical specialist and / or project manager on small to mid-

size projects; however project management is not the sole focus of position. Provision of guidance for professional development to junior engineers, other civil professional and technical staffs will be part of job duties.

The selected individual will work closely with department manager to assist in business and operation duties. Some field work / travelling will be required. #LI-MP2

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering or higher. Currently accredited with PEO.
  • 7+ years experience in civil / municipal engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications in Civil Engineering such as Experience with InRoads, Microstation ,Civil 3D , etc.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Candidates must have experience working on TTC or Metrolinx projects. Experience in P3 is an asset.
  • Experience in water resources is an asset.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently.
  • Exceptional candidates will be professional, self-motivated, well organized and detail oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills / positive attitude and ability to work in a team atmosphere is required.
