We have conducted a significant evaluation of our attitudes and actions, strengths and weaknesses, under a transition ministry, and are now seeking a Biblically faithful teacher / preacher who is personally committed to evangelism and who will guide us in outreach as we seek to once again become relevant to our community.
Overview of Church and Community
We are an older congregation of 100-110 on a Sunday situated in good facilities at the edge of the city. Next door is one of the richest areas in Cambridge while we are a 2 minute drive from some of the poorest.
Our church (and a rental congregation in our gym) are the only churches in the area. We know that we need to change but change is hard.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
All the normal duties of a senior pastor including : preaching, teaching, participation on church Boards, developing ministry vision, and visitation.
Our pastor is neither our servant nor our sole leader but is instead our Shepherd and mentor. Current meetings include : Sunday morning service, a monthly evening service, and a weekly prayer meeting.
The church currently has a part-time youth pastor. Note that the role of secondary staff will be a topic of discussion with candidates.
Role and Responsibilities
Teaching (both Biblical and in general)
Evangelism and Outreach (both personally and in training / shaping members and in congregational initiatives in the community)
Ability to guide us into true blended and more contemporary worship would be of great value
