The Senior Product Manager (SPM) will be responsible for all technical aspects of the product portfolio within the Government and Utilities Vertical covering a range of solutions spread across Mapping data, Land Title data and document images.

The SPM will carry the responsibility for translating strategic priorities and market requirements into detailed functional requirements using appropriate documentation and processes and will interface with the development team on behalf of the business unit to ensure that new products, product enhancements and solutions for application shortcomings are developed and deployed into production within scheduled timelines and in line with functional specification requirements.

The SPM will also liaise with the Vertical Leader, Product Management team, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing and other support teams to ensure that products deliver an exceptional customer experience.

While holding direct responsibility for all technical aspects of the product suite, the SPM would also be expected to contribute to the thought leadership that would drive short and long-

term strategic planning goals and support the business in achieving its growth objectives.

Specific Responsibilities

Product Management

  • Develop, own and drive the annual Product Roadmap
  • Translate high level product strategy into a set of detailed technical requirements for each product initiative
  • Write requirements for all planned IS work, lead grooming sessions and attend standups during the development cycle.
  • Interface with IS to identify and provide solutions
  • Prepare release plans
  • Provide regular communication to the organization around objectives, progress and changes to Roadmap priorities
  • Participate in cross-functional workgroups to develop, plan and review all product plans
  • Drive and manage the fulfillment and delivery of all custom mapping and data solutions
  • Product Performance

  • Ensuring the product line performs in line with expectations, as per the VAS Balanced Scorecard and Annual Business Plan.
  • Driving and overseeing the delivery of all solutions and enhancements
  • Over the course of each year, help to improve the customer experience, as measured by the annual Customer Experience Index (CEI)
  • Escalation Management / Help Desk

  • Take responsibility for being the central coordination point for all platform related bug fixes that arise from customer complaints
  • Interface with IS to identify and provide solutions
  • deliver exceptional service by providing timely and effective responses to end user issues / Remedy Tickets escalated by the Product Operations team.
  • interface with IS and other internal stakeholders in order to find solutions for critical client escalations
  • provide extensive input into the development of the customer solutions pipeline
  • Client Interaction

  • The incumbent will be expected to interact closely with several clients in order to troubleshoot and provide solutions.
  • This could entail client visits.

  • In several instances, the SPM could also be called upon to provide technical expertise and support to the sales process by partnering with Sales partners on client visits.
  • In order to be successful, the PM will nurture relationships with the following client facing departments / partners :

    Sales

  • Market intelligence and customer feedback will be gathered from the sales force.
  • The PM will take a leadership role in determining product priorities based on market feedback.
  • Customer Service

  • Customer feedback will be gathered from the Customer Service Centre
  • The product manager, customer service and sales will work closely on the rollout of new product releases and major product / solution upgrades, where required
  • Core Accountabilities / Outcomes :

  • Develop and execute annual product strategy plans
  • Lead cross-functional workgroups including sales, marketing and product team members to develop, plan and review all product plans.
  • Manage annual strategic initiatives for new product introductions, ensuring they meet all financial expectations.
  • Develop expertise on understanding market challenges and meeting customer needs in the Government and Utilities Vertical as well as developing subject matter expertise on creating effective product development processes in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders
  • In support of the corporate and VAS Balanced Scorecard objectives for national market share and VAS revenue, achieve the required quantitative targets for the product portfolio

  • Required Skills

  • Technical Degree with 4-7 years of overall experience in IT project management.
  • Familiarity with GIS, Mapping and data related products and industries.
  • Familiar with the Agile Scrum development process and other software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity whit GIS and Web Map Services / API solutions within the Municipal & Utility verticals.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing new product initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively translate business requirements into technical / functional requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to receive feedback from peers and manager as well as ongoing commitment to professional development and / or personal improvement.
  • Proven experience delivering major SaaS product and solutions.
  • Integrating and deploying Managed Services type solutions.
