NV-07The person in this position is responsible for the analysis and processing of disability benefit claims. The successful candidate compiles information regarding the cause and context of health-
related absences. The incumbent establishes a return-to-work action plan. The person is the employee's main contact throughout the absence period.
General Information on the Position
Process claims for disability benefits in compliance with the clauses of the group insurance contract.
Communicate with the employee and the employee's manager to obtain all the information needed to establish the causes and context for the absence.
Accept or refuse the claim for disability benefits and communicate the decision to the employee and the employee's manager according to the defined procedure.
Establish a return-to-work action plan for each case of absence processed. Communicate to the employee and the employee's manager the content of the return-
to-work action plan and advise the HR resource person, as applicable.
Define the scope of any personalized support mandate, which will be assigned to a disability management resource person or health professional chosen by the incumbent.
Continue to monitor the progress of the mandate and, if necessary, make the appropriate adjustments based on any changes in the employee's situation.
Communicate with the health management advisor to coordinate the action to be taken with the HR resource person, employee and the employee's manager for any case of absence presenting a specific job-related problem.
Establish the benefit amount, determine the payable period, proceed with payment and carry out the necessary follow up.
Codify and enter data in the appropriate systems.
Maintain good relationships and act in partnership with Desjardins Group resources and external partners involved in the absence management for health-related reasons.
Help seek continuous improvement opportunities in line with disability management-related activities in collaboration with peers
College diploma in a related field
Two (2) years of relevant experience in disability file management with an insurer (required)
Proficient speaker, advanced knowledge of English
