Intent of the process

The intent of this inventory is to staff various WP-02 positions with different tenures, language profiles and security requirements within Veterans Affairs Canada.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education :

  • A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.*
  • Employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma include :
  • A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
  • An acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience. An acceptable combination is defined as completion of Grade Ten with two years of relevant job-related experience.
  • Essential Qualifications :

  • Experience in analyzing written material and preparing a written document.
  • Experience in the interpretation and / or application of legislation and / or policy.
  • Experience providing advice or guidance to clients or subordinates or military personnel.
  • The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

  • Ability to communicate orally.

    Education (Asset)

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary school diploma with specialization in a health-related or social work field.
  • Experience (Assets)

  • Experience as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
  • Experience in reviewing, researching and extracting information from various sources.
  • Experience in adjudicating benefits or services for government programs.
  • Experience working in a Health Services environment.
  • Experience working with medical terminology.
  • Experience working with legal terminology.
  • Experience working with Veterans Affairs Canada programs, services or benefits.
  • Conditions of employment

    Reliability Status security clearance

    Willing and able to work overtime as required.

    Candidates must fully demonstrate they meet the education and experience requirements. Failure to do so may result in their applications being screened out.

    FOR EACH EXPERIENCE CRITERIA, please provide the following MANDATORY information :

  • 1 - Name of the department or organization where the experience was acquired;
  • 2 - Title of the position occupied and duration for which you exercised the functions; and

    3 - Specific details of tasks or projects demonstrating how the experience was acquired.

    Resumes will be used as a secondary source to validate the experience described. FAILURE TO CLEARLY DEMONSTRATE HOW YOU MEET THE ESSENTIAL SCREENING CRITERIA (Education and Experience) MAY RESULT IN THE REJECTION OF YOUR APPLICATION.

    Successful candidates must continue to meet all conditions of employment throughout the duration of their employment.

    Reference checks may be sought. The Assessment Committee reserves the right to contact references other than those provided by the candidates (within the Public Service only) in order to adequately assess the candidates.
